The Six Basic Fears of Mankind – Loss of Love of/for Someone

THE FEAR OF LOSS OF LOVE OF SOMEONE

The source of this anxiety requires little explanation, for it is evident that it evolved out of man’s inclination to steal his fellow man’s mate, or at the very least, to take liberties with her, unknown to her true “lord” and master. All men are polygamous by nature, a remark that will elicit protests from those who are either too old to function sexually normally or have, due to some other cause, lost the contents of particular glands that are responsible for man’s propensity for the plurality of the opposite sex.

There is no doubt that jealousy and all other related forms of mild dementia praecox (insanity) arose from man’s innate fear of losing someone he loves.

The craziest and strangest of all the “sane idiots” explored by this person is that represented by a man who has gotten jealous of some woman, or that represented by a woman who has been jealous of some man. Fortunately, the author only had one case of firsthand contact with this type of insanity, but from that experience, he learned enough to justify his statement that the fear of losing love is one of the most terrible, if not the most agonizing, of all the six basic fears. And it appears plausible to conclude that this fear has a greater impact on the human mind than any of the other six primary fears, frequently leading to more violent types of irreversible insanity.
