The Yin and Yang Within Us

Everyone has a dark side. Consider all the things we dislike about ourselves. We have numerous bad habits, actions, and attitudes that we have been told are not nice. It is typically suppressed, not recognized, or accepted. We don’t want to admit it exists. Instead, we’d rather say we don’t have these problems and hide the bad part. Here’s the catch: What you deny owns you, while what you accept restores your power. If you deny it, what you resist will continue. The irony is that the entire composition contains both dark and light elements.

We have night and day, heat and cold, good and evil, love and hate, and every other duality known to man. Everyone is there for a reason. Knowing this allows you to combine your yin and yang, masculine and feminine, dark and light, and experience the totality and wholeness of who you are! You’ll be glad you did.

Being oneself is a liberating feeling. Working with customers, I am constantly astounded by the self-consciousness trap that we all fall into. I’ve been there, and it has prevented me from having some of the best experiences of my life. “How do you know it’ll be one of the best experiences if it doesn’t happen?” you could wonder. That’s a good question!

If the event doesn’t happen, I’m constantly thinking about what might have been. I’m sure many of you have had similar experiences. There isn’t a single person alive who hasn’t experienced this at least once in their lives. When we are in a bad mood, we are more likely to experience this hesitation. Ups and downs are a part of life, and by accepting this, we may call on all of who we are by being present in the moment while still living each experience with a sense of brand new wonder and discovery. Get out of your head and into the present moment. Allow the emotion to be, but don’t let it control you; simply be with it.

The possibility of living fully in the present moment is now open. Seize the opportunity, the possibility, and the gorgeous person in front of you, and learn more about yourself. The entirety of your genuine self, in its entirety It’s the synthesis of being and doing. I’m being myself, in the moment, with my mood for company, and living in the present, this instant and encounter. My sentiments are what they are, and by embracing them, I allow new emotional energy to enter. Life is a wonder, as are our bodies, and the experiences are many. Take a chance!

We’ve all seen those folks who are so free, able to dance in the grocery aisle or close their eyes on a sunny street in the midst of the day, arms outspread, arms outspread, arms outspread, arms outspread. What self-conscious trap keeps you from being all that you are? I admire those who do, don’t you? “To be free” means to be at peace with oneself. Are you ready to be set free? It is all up to you.
