How Frequently Should You Get Tarot Readings?

“How frequently should I have a tarot card reading?” There is no single answer. It depends on your objective, the type of reading you’re doing, and how you’re going to use it.

If you want to know what is going to happen in general in the future, you could take a reading every six months or so, or even once a year. This type of reading typically includes a larger “spread” or “layout,” as Tarot readings are known. This provides a larger view of trends that may be at work around you. It typically informs the reader whether they are in a period of transition or relative stability—if new things are on the horizon or whether things will remain fairly similar to the way they are today. This type of reading isn’t necessary very often. It’s “big picture” stuff that changes slowly.

If you are only interested in one topic at a time, such as if you will be starting a new job soon, you can choose a smaller layout. A few cards or a Celtic cross will suffice to tell you what your options are in that case. The reading may show that you need to improve your skills and go in a different direction with your career, or that you need to look for a job more than you are now. If you inquired about moving, you might be told that it would be disruptive at this time. The Tarot is never simply “yes” or “no.” It usually includes some guidance or insight.

With a reading focused on a single topic, you can ask whenever you want, as long as the topics are distinct. It’s pointless to ask the same question several times because the responses become complicated and frequently reflect how you’re feeling that day. I constantly attempt to keep people from getting too reliant on divination. Asking the same question over and over, hoping the cards will tell you what you want to hear, is unhealthy. Sometimes life does not offer us what we want, and we must accept this and go on as best we can.

It is preferable not to make frivolous inquiries. I’ve found that the Tarot works best when you’ve thought about your question carefully and asked it in a clear way. When you have an answer to a question, take some time to think about it and see how it can help you with your situation. That is one of the tarot’s strengths: advice. It can assist us in seeing solutions for ourselves.

When you use the Tarot correctly, it’s like talking to a close friend. The responses frequently open up fresh perspectives on our lives, which can help us bring out the best in ourselves in the future. It reacts best, like all excellent friends, if you pay attention to the responses it gives.
