The Chinese Zodiac System

The Chinese used to follow their own calendar based on lunar cycles before converting to the regular solar calendar of western origin. As a result, Chinese astrology is based on the traditional lunar calendar, which has twelve lunar cycles.

In the Chinese zodiac, there are twelve different animals. Each zodiac sign has a full moon cycle that lasts from the new moon to the full moon. In a Chinese Zodiac year, there are twelve full lunar cycles. One animal, on the other hand, can last a year. As a result, a Chinese cycle lasts twelve years before repeating again. Unlike the Western zodiac system, where your zodiac birthday occurs every year, the Chinese zodiac birthday occurs only once every twelve years.

The creation of the Chinese calendar is the subject of various stories. According to one of them:

The gods wanted to see which animal could get to their place the fastest. As a result, they challenged them all to swim across a river. The Chinese zodiac reflects the order in which they arrived. According to another tradition, Lord Buddha urged the animals to pay him a visit before departing from this world. When they went to see him, he named the moon cycles based on the sequence in which the animals appeared. As a result, the Chinese zodiac is shaped like a circle with twelve equal portions, similar to a pie split into twelve halves.

In the Chinese zodiac system, each zodiac animal has its own set of qualities. Ox, rabbit, tiger, rat, snake, sheep, horse, monkey, rooster, boar, dog, and dragon are among the animals.

As a result, if you’re a rat, you’re likely to be aggressive, charming, perfectionist, and a little secretive. You’re also a party animal who’s a little stubborn. Those born under the sign of the rat can be ruthless at times. As a result, each zodiac sign reflects a full personality, complete with both positive and negative characteristics.

The Chinese zodiac system differs significantly from the solar-based western zodiac system of which we are all aware. However, the traits that are expected of you under the Western system are frequently the same as those expected of you under the Chinese system. That’s incredible. This, however, may not be the case in every circumstance.
